Mono is a cross platform version of the CLR, and you can use Mono if you desire to use IronPython on platforms other than Windows.

Mono can run IronPython on various operating systems (Linux, MacOS X, Solaris, NetBSD, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Windows) as well as on a variety of hardware platforms (x86, x86-64, PowerPC, ARM, SPARC, Itanium, MIPS and a few more). For full details see the list.

It not only runs IronPython, but includes FePy as part of the distribution.
